Quantum Corp. today announced immediate availability of the M1500 automated tape library with added features. The latest SX release of the product features Super DLTtape or LTO Ultrium drive technology,and Prism Library Management functions.
The M1500SX is now available with up to two SDLT 220 or LTO Ultrium tape drives per module. The Super DLTtape version features 20 total cartridge slots in two, ten-cartridge magazines, and the LTO Ultrium version features 24 total cartridge slots in two, twelve-cartridge magazines.
Additionally, the company said the optional MC300 Prism Management Card provides library monitoring and management features, including ALERT Notification for real-time monitoring of library events via email, SNMP Integration for event notification through major network management applications, and ALERT Library Management for real-time, Web-based management and monitoring of library functions from a remote browser.
Quantum said up to ten modules of the M1500SX can be linked using Quantum’s StackLink mechanism that rapidly sends cartridges between modules. Each Super DLTtape module has up to 2.2 TB of native capacity (4.4 TB with 2:1 compression) with native performance of 79 GB/hour (158 GB/hour with 2:1 compression). Each LTO Ultrium module has 2.4 TB of native capacity (4.8 TB with 2:1 compression) with native performance of 108 GB/hour (216 GB/hour with 2:1 compression).
The manufacturer’s suggested list price for the M1500SX with Super DLTtape or LTO Ultrium starts at $18,530 for a single drive module and the MC300 Prism Management Card starts at $995.
