Quantum, OTG Software Parnter On Email NAS Solution

Jan 22, 2002

Quantum Corp., a provider of data protection and network storage systems, today announced the availability of Snap Server EmailXtender Archive (EX/A) software, an e-mail archive solution for use in conjunction with the Snap Server line of Network Attached Storage (NAS) appliances.

Based on the EmailXtender family of e-mail management solutions from OTG Software , Quantum said Snap Server EX/A software simplifies the management of e-mail servers, optimizes e-mail server performance, increases productivity for end users and reduces IT administration costs. Snap Server EX/A is available for both Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes/Domino servers and is quickly and easily deployed.

“Today’s data-intensive workplace continues to create storage stress points across the enterprise,” said Vicki Vollmar, director of product marketing of Quantum’s Network Attached Storage Division. “With the increased reliance on e-mail as business communication, the amount of mission-critical data in e-mail servers is growing and is increasingly vulnerable. The availability of Snap Server EmailXtender Archive offers IT administrators a powerful tool designed to easily manage e-mail storage and improve server performance resulting in lower administration costs.”

Snap Server EX/A is the second product Quantum has developed with OTG Software. Back in November, the company announced the Snap Server DiskXtender Appliance Edition (DX AE), which it said offers a package for managing data storage by consolidating and centralizing distributed network data into a virtual storage pool, providing management for up to five terabytes of storage. For larger e-mail systems, such as those distributed across multiple e-mail servers, the Snap Server EX/A integrates with Snap Server DX AE, providing a virtual pool for e-mail storage.
