Scale Eight, Inc. this week announced that SwapDrive, a provider of Web-based storage, has chosen Scale Eight’s Global Storage Service to fulfill its primary file storage and global mirroring requirements.

“Our customers demand high availability, backup and recovery protection for their critical enterprise information assets, which is why we chose Scale Eight,” said SwapDrive CEO David Steinberg. “Our unique technologies and best-practices automated data backup application combined with Scale Eight’s Global Storage Service enables SwapDrive to offer its customers secure worldwide file access, comprehensive data protection and virtually unlimited scalability without sacrificing economics.”

SwapDrive said it expects to use Scale Eight’s 8RL technology, which allows customers to back up and access their files over the Web via an authenticated URL and is particularly useful for recovering files from damaged, lost or stolen laptop computers in the field.
