Centra , a provider of software infrastructure and ASP services for eLearning and collaboration, today announced Brasil Telecomm (BrT) as its latest customer, adding to its already large portfolio of global telecom clients.
BrT, the third largest telecommunications provider in Brazil, has chosen Centra to deliver SAP training to end users in nine states, including Rio Grande do Sul, Mato Grosso and Brasilia, Brazil’s Capital. Working with MicroPower, Centra’s distribution partner in Brazil that negotiated the deal over the last six months, BrT will use Centra to provide technical training to improve the process of its SAP rollout, software upgrades, and continuing change management programs.
According to Raimundo Ramos, Corporate Education Manager for Brasil Telecomm using Centra’s eLearning products, with features like IP-audio conferencing and application sharing, BrT is aiming for a more cost-efficient SAP implementation in what he calls the “challenging” telecommunications industry: “Their eLearning products have demonstrated proven business results at companies with similar collaboration needs,” he says.
Steve Lesser, vice president of worldwide sales at Centra, says that in making eLearning a critical part of its business, BrT can maximize its return on its SAP investment and also raise it’s profile to its customers: “By accelerating business processes like enterprise application deployments Brasil Telecomm can also reaffirming commitment to customers by creating the most competent and knowledgeable workforce with which to serve them,” he adds
BrT says it will also look to improve internal communications by conducting online team meetings and one-to-one mentoring sessions through Centra’s enterprise products: “Using Centra, we can create and foster a more dynamic eLearning and knowledge sharing culture,” says Ramos
Richard Geise, director of Latin American operations at Centra, believes there is a growing need for this kind of infrastructure in the telecommunications industry: “Telecom companies understand and believe in technology. They have widely dispersed employees and are aggressively looking for competitive advantage through better training and communications,” he says.
He says Centra will continue to look for new business from telecom companies, though companies like AT&T, Bell Canada, Deutsche Telecom and several others already use Centra’s eLearning infrastructure and products: ” We hope to add new telecom companies to our as well as see increasing usage within the current telecom customers as the various deployments expand” he adds.
