Inktomi Monday announced a deal that meshes its search technology inside of Motorola‘s enterprise network.

The two companies are building on an established relationship. Foster City, Calif.-based Inktomi already runs searches within Motorola’s corporate Web site.

The Internet search and content delivery developer will be using its Inktomi Enterprise Search Security Module for secure information retrieval.

With the platform in place, Inktomi says administrators can ensure that unauthorized documents do not appear in search results, preventing users from even learning of the existence of information that they are not authorized to access.

“Motorola recognizes the importance of effective information retrieval in improving productivity and business efficiency. However, as we enable greater access to corporate content, security is a top concern,” says Motorola Global Internet Platforms manager Scott Slattery. “The Security Module offered by Inktomi will allow us to provide our employees, partners and suppliers around the world with a comprehensive, personalized view of crucial company information without compromising data integrity.”

Inktomi also says the Enterprise Search Security Module lets organizations integrate with single sign-on security solutions and is fully compatible with Netegrity SiteMinder.

“Inktomi is working closely with our customers to provide a search solution that both delivers increased access to critical corporate information and provides strong document security,” says Inktomi Enterprise Search Solutions vice president and general manager Troy Toman. “By addressing enterprise security requirements, the Inktomi Enterprise Search Security Module gives companies, such as Motorola, the confidence to provide knowledge workers with access to all the information they are entitled to, regardless of where it is located, through a single search box.”
