Japan Telecom, iPass Partner in Global Network

Japan Telecom Co., Ltd., a leading
telecommunications carrier, is partnering with Internet
services firm iPass Inc. to offer iPass
Internet roaming service to customers of Japan Telecom’s Internet service
unit.


Under terms of the agreement, Open Data Network customers will have
access to iPass’ secure global network of 3,000 access points in 150
countries. ODN customers can now easily use e-mail, access the Web and
other business applications with a local call from all over the world.


“We selected iPass for its industry-leading Internet roaming service and
tremendous global reach,” said Tsuneo Kitaura, managing director of Data
Communications Business Headquarters of Japan
Telecom.


“Providing value-added services to our customers continues to be
very important. It is critical that we provide a proven global solution
with excellent security and reliability. Over the past two years, iPass has
demonstrated tremendous leadership in Internet roaming worldwide.”

Japan Telecom/ODN,” said Jason Ma, iPass managing director of Asia Pacific.


“ODN can bring the iPass service to its hundreds of
thousands of subscribers and it is known for providing premier
Internet services to business and consumer customers. ODN customers
will gain strong security and a tremendous value at a low price with
iPass.”


Japan Telecom is latest firm to partner with iPass, which has recently
signed agreements 15 European Internet service providers.
