Novell Bundles Identity Management Software

Novell Inc. , the Provo, Utah-based provider of eBusiness solutions today announced an agreement with TIBCO Software Inc. , to bundle Novell’s identity management software Novell eDirectory, with the TIBCO ActivePortal 3.5 platform.

The bundling will allow TIBCO to enable simplified portal management so customers, partners, suppliers and employees can access to the resources they need to conduct business online. The agreement also positions Novell as a core identity and access management solution provider for a variety of applications, portals and services.

According to Paul Smart, vice president and general manager of Novell’s Net Directory business, the adoption of eDirectory as a Net services platform among both Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) and portal providers: “TIBCO, Yahoo! and others have realized the benefits of building solutions on top of eDirectory, gaining the management, security and personalization power that the software delivers,” he says.

“TIBCO’s ActivePortal line of products integrates business processes to the desktop, allowing users to manage business processes and access critical business information in a personalized, integrated, real-time fashion,” explains Keith Goldstein, vice president of alliances for TIBCO.

He argues that adding Novell’s eDirectory software to the ActivePortal solution provides an effective way to simplify the management of identities, relationships and multiple portal solutions.

Novell’s eDirectory is serving as a foundation for the deployment of Net services solutions in areas like eProvisioning, Access Management, network management and others. Novell says the announcement marks another significant step in delivering on its promise of one Net solutions

Working with Novell’s Developer Labs, TIBCO will deliver Novell eDirectory as part of its ActivePortal platform by the end of 2001.
