Dells’ mobile line up for the rest of the year includes a smartphone codenamed Hancock that will run Android 4.0, or Ice Cream, as well as tablets running Honeycomb and Windows 8.
The mobile device menu for Dell was leaked to some bloggers, and, if reports are true, shows that Dell is committed to the wireless sector for 2011 and beyond.
Highlights include a smartphone codenamed Hancock, due out in September, that’s slated to run Android 4.0, and that will have a 4-inch screen, dual cameras, a dual-core processor and 1080p video recording.
In the third quarter, a vertical QWERTY slider dubbed Wrigley and running Windows Phone 7 is also on tap.
On the tablet PC front, Dell’s Streak 10, called Gallo, should be out in April running Android 3.0. In June, a 10-inch Windows 7 slate called Rosemount is due. By January of next year, the hardware vendor is expected to introduce three more tablet PCs, one to run Windows 8.
“Dell is searching for a way to not be a me-too in the space,” Jack Gold, principal analyst with JGold Associates, told InternetNews.com.
