SoftQuad Software Inc. and Object Design Inc., Monday announced
a strategic alliance to integrate and jointly market SoftQuad’s XMetaL XML authoring environment and Object Design’s eXcelon XML eBusiness information server.

The integrated products assist in developing, managing and
publishing XML content for a variety of eBusiness applications, including
knowledge management, Web product catalogs and Web publishing.

SoftQuad has built an XMetaL Integration Toolkit for eXcelon, providing
users with a way to store and retrieve XML documents. eXcelon also
automates the security, administration and on-line publishing of
XMetaL-generated content.

XMetaL is an XML authoring tool with a word processing-like interface and customization capabilities. eXcelon is an eBusiness information server for storage, management and distribution of both structured and unstructured XML eBusiness information. eXcelon supports XML’s extensibility by managing XML in its native format.
