Metamata, Inc., a new company backed by seed financing from Sun Microsystems, hit the Java market today with the first four components of a new integrated Interactive Development Environment suite.

Completely Java 1.1 compatible, Metamata’s tools can process both Java
source files and bytecode, and feature incremental update so you can
modify programs without recompiling.

The tools–all written in Java–include a source code browser, debugger with advanced thread capabilities, a validator/auditor, and Metrics tool that analyzes code for complexity and object coupling.

A basic version of Metamata Browse is free and all tools are reasonably
priced. Visit the Metamata site for further information.
