Softquad Ltd. and Vignette Corp. this week
announced that they have partnered to create a comprehensive platform for
implementing and deploying XML-based content solutions for e-businesses.

By using a combination of SoftQuad’s XMetaL, an XML content creation
platform, and Vignette’s V/5 eBusiness Platform, businesses are able to
leverage the use of XML technology. XML is becoming the preferred format
for e-commerce information interchange, and the two companies believe that
the partnership will lead to the “seamless deployment of Web-based
solutions that capture content from a wide variety of sources, and
integrate it with both internal and external systems.”

SoftQuad Software is now an official Vignette Technology Partner, and will
soon become a Vignette V2B Services partner. Vignette V2B Services are
designed to streamline the process of purchasing, implementing, and
utilizing e-business applications. The V2B Services are provided through
the use of the Vignette V2B MarketPlace and Vignette V2B Communities.

SoftQuad Software’s XMetaL 1.2 is billed as an “advanced, yet easy-to-use
XML authoring solution” that was created to streamline the process of
content creation. The Vignette V/5 eBusiness Platform provides native
support for XML content, enabling the seamless integration of the two
products that provide e-businesses with the ability to efficiently create
and work with XML documents. This enables the delivery of personalized
content, attracting customers and building e-relationships in a quick,
efficient manner.

XMetaL features a word processor-like interface, enabling the
non-programmers within an organization to quickly create content directly
in XML, as well as convert documents into XML from other formats, such as
Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Additionally, XML content can be
retrieved and submitted to Vignette’s Web-based workflow management interface.
