Entrust and ISS Pair in OEM Agreement

Security management software provider Internet Security Systems, Inc. Monday
announced a bundling deal with enterprise transaction security provider Entrust Technologies.

The strategic agreement calls for Entrust to include ISS’ vulnerability
detection software, System
Scanner, with Entrust’s Public-Key Infrastructure (PKI) software. The
companies said the combination of products will allow clients to
proactively manage server security risks and ensure privacy and
authenticity of data communications across their networks.

ISS also announced today that it will ship a free, 60-day evaluation copy
of its vulnerability detection software, Internet Scanner, with each
Entrust PKI shipped.

According to ISS, by incorporating its security assessment software with
Entrust’s PKI resources, companies can determine the weak links in their
security architecture. The proactive security assessment capabilities of
System Scanner allows customers to automatically scan servers for potential
security holes, identify security weaknesses and lock
down servers vital to gaining maximum security regarding operation of the
PKI.

“With ISS’ SAFEsuite solutions, our customers can effectively eliminate
system vulnerabilities before installing the PKI, and then scan their network
after installation to establish a baseline for their security policy and
successfully eliminate any remaining network security
issues,” said John Ryan, president and chief executive officer, Entrust
Technologies Inc.

“Public-Key Infrastructure is a critical component in the overall security
solution for many of our customers but, like other solutions, must be
implemented as part of a well developed security risk management process,”
said Tom Noonan, president and chief executive officer of Internet Security
Systems. “With this agreement, our joint customers will be able to proactively
monitor, detect and respond to server security issues in an increasingly
dynamic enterprise environment.”
