Entrust and NAI Pair in PKI Offering

Entrust Technologies
Inc.
and Network Associates
Inc.
today announced they have
formed a strategic relationship aimed at providing interoperable solutions
employing Entrust’s managed public-key infrastructure (PKI) software with
Network Associates’ Net Tools Secure.

The companies said the alliance enables users of Net Tools Secure to accept
certificates issued by Entrust’s PKI solutions software. The PKI solution
is designed to offer security across an
enterprise’s applications and to result in reduced sign-on for end users
and centralized administration for an organization.

In addition, other capabilities are provided, such as automatic rollover of
expired
certificates, automatic certificate revocation checking, provisions for key
recovery and non-repudiation, and support for multiple certificates types
such as enterprise, Web, VPN and SET while ensuring lower costs of
ownership and greater
economic benefits compared to outsourced solutions.

Entrust also announced today that it is offering free certificates for Web and
virtual private network (VPN) applications, available at the company’s Web site.

The evaluation
certificates allow customers to immediately use enhanced encryption and
authentication services for applications such as secure e-mail, remote
access, business-to-business communications and supply chain integration.
The digital certificates can be employed by customers of Network Associates
or of any product that supports the industry standard certificate format,
in an effort to encourage open standards, Entrust said.

“This relationship between Entrust Technologies and Network Associates is
beneficial to enterprise customers want to deploy
integrated network security applications based on our proven PKI
solutions,” said John Ryan, president and CEO, Entrust
Technologies Inc. “And, our offer of free certificates provides users of a
broad range of Web and VPN
products the ability to quickly take advantage of enhanced security
services without any unnecessary overhead.”

“By working with an industry leader like Entrust Technologies, we can
provide our mutual customers with true integration between products like
firewalls, vulnerability scanners, and virtual private networks for the
first time ever,” said Peter Watkins
general manager of the Net Tools Secure division at Network Associates.
“Together, we will offer our customers the flexibility to implement fully
managed PKI solutions from Entrust that offer immediate payoffs with
built-in support for the Network
Associates security product line.”
