Unveiled today at the Networld+Interop ’98 show in Las Vegas, “The HP and AT&T Secure Internet Access Solution” leverages computing systems, software and other services from AT&T’s WorldNet Managed Internet Service, and employs HP 9000 Enterprise Servers.
The solution includes Check Point Software Technologies’ Check Point
Firewall-1 running on HP-UX or Microsoft Windows NT; or Novell’s
BorderManager running on NetWare.
The companies said they will target the service at U.S. businesses that are not yet on the Net, as well as those seeking a higher level of Internet configuration security.
The secure solution will be marketed by AT&T’s direct sales force and AT&T Alliance Program agents.
“We’ve had continued exponential growth in volume over our Internet
backbone,” said Kathleen Earley, AT&T vice president of Networked Commerce
Services, in a statement announced the bundling agreement.
“Much of this growth is driven by the fact that companies today
are running their businesses using the Web and IP protocol services. This
bundled solution will give businesses a single, reliable source for
Internet access or an intranet solution.”
Today’s announcement expands on HP and AT&T’s 1997 alliance under which the
companies jointly offered secure reseller e-commerce solutions for secure-purchasing.
