Online community tool provider iRenaissance, Inc.
announced the
availability of Calendar Central V2,
the new version of its Web-based calendar of events for corporate intranets
and Internet communities.
The North Carolina-based company said that Calendar Central gives system
administrators real-time control over time-sensitive information without
needing to maintain the information themselves. By employing a central Web
server to support enterprise
communications, an administrator can create customized calendar views for
workgroups or
organizations. Users then can enter and see their own events without
needing help from the administrator.
The new Calendar Central release includes expanded event filtering,
allowing users to create custom
event filters by location, event type, organization, or other criteria.
According to the company, other scheduling software does not provide
support for events by location, critical for corporate customers
maintaining worldwide intranets.
Another new feature, the customized QuickViews application, enables users to
develop scheduling options by location, department, job function, and
features a new color-coding option. Additional offerings in the new version
are month, week, day, and list
views, that have been added to the Java applet viewer and the regular HTML
Web page view.
Calendar Central is now available for $2,500 to $8,000, depending on
configuration and hierarchical
calendar filtering options. The Calendar
Central server software is platform independent since it is 100 percent
Java and The Calendar
Central client supports Netscape Navigator, Internet Explorer, or on any
standard Web browser.
Among the corporations using the Calendar Central product for project
management, production scheduling, event calendars, and related corporate
communications, include
IBM, Levi-Strauss, Hewlett-Packard and Intuit.
“From the outset, we designed Calendar Central to be a versatile,
completely customizable tool for
building Internet and Intranet communities,” said Flint O’Brien, president
and founder of iRenaissance.
“Calendar Central V2 now adds a complete library of customizable templates
so administrators can
readily add a web calendar with the same look and feel as their Web sites.
And we are the only
solution to offer location-specific event viewing, which makes Calendar
Central unsurpassed in the
marketplace.”
