Beyond.com Signs with Novadigm to Deliver Software Update Service

Jan 14, 1999

Online software seller Beyond.com signed an
agreement with Novadigm Inc. by which Beyond.com will use
Novadigm’s Radia technology to offer an Internet-based software update service
for its enterprise and consumer customers.

Initially, the subscription service will be targeted to meet the needs of
small- and medium-sized companies that want to reduce the complexity and
administrative burden of keeping their software current. Customers purchasing
from Beyond.com’s selection of 5,600 electronically downloadable software
titles will have an opportunity to subscribe to a Radia-based service that
will automatically deliver the latest updates and enhancements.

“Small- and medium-sized businesses want to be sure they have the most
current updates for the software they’ve licensed, ” said Alan DeClerck, vice-
president of worldwide sales for Beyond.com. “Subscribers to our service won’t need
administrators to surf Web sites looking for updates and fixes. With a Radia-
based subscription, our customers can instead focus on running
their businesses.”

“Beyond.com and Novadigm are working together to automate the delivery and
management of desktop software for millions of potential subscribers,” said
George Kellar, vice-president of marketing for Novadigm. “Novadigm products
today are in production at large enterprise sites managing hundreds of
thousands of software components on customer desktops with 99.4 percent
reliability, significantly reducing desktop administration costs. With
Beyond.com, we’ll be leveraging these same enterprise capabilities for small-
and medium-sized companies.”
