SAN JOSE, May 3–Cypress Semiconductor (CY)
announced its second acquisition in a week, signing a definitive agreement
to acquire Alation Systems, a privately held wireless systems
company based in Mountain View, CA. Alation brings to Cypress a deep
portfolio of intellectual property in analog, DSP, and RF baseband
technology, along with software and systems expertise in the fast-growing
wireless arena.

PITTSBURGH, May 3–Black Box Corporation (BBOX)
announced that it has signed a letter of intent to purchase the Network
Infrastructure Services (NIS) division of VISTA Information
Technologies. Established in 1980 and headquartered in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania, NIS provides technical design, installation and maintenance
services for premise cabling and related products in the Mid-Atlantic and
Mid-Western United States and several customers on a nationwide basis.
NIS brings Black Box new customers, experienced management and
professionals, new geographic coverage and greater market share in many of
our existing served markets. At $40 million in revenues, NIS is Black Box’
single largest expansion to date.

the company has acquired WyldFyre Technologies, a developer of
technology solutions for real estate professionals to access multiple
listing service information via the Internet. The WyldFyre acquisition significantly strengthens
Homestore.com’s product offerings for real estate professionals and is
another step in the company’s strategy to fully automate the real estate
transaction process with innovative Internet-based solutions and emerging
wireless technologies. Homestore.com issued approximately 589,000 shares of
common stock in connection with the acquisition.

the world’s second largest discount broker and a leading online financial
services firm announced its agreement to acquire Dealwise Limited,
one of the UK’s largest discount brokerage firms, for approximately $127.5
million Dealwise from UK building society Skipton Building Society. When completed, the
acquisition will boost TD Waterhouse’s customer base by approximately
230,000 accounts, and is set to make TD Waterhouse the UK’s largest
discount broker based on total accounts and trading volume.

DALLAS, May 3–SixtyFootSpider, a subsidiary of True North
Communications (TNO),
announced a strategic move into the business-to-business services arena.
The company said it acquired Minneapolis-based Juntunen Media Group’s
Communications Solutions Division (CSD), an interactive agency
specializing in full b-to-b services. Juntunen CSD, which has built a
reputation for its strength in high-end multimedia projects and Web-based
training, becomes the Minneapolis office of SixtyFootSpider. Terms of the
deal were not disclosed.
