    CUPERTINO, Calif., Nov. 3–Portal Software , a provider of business infrastructure software for broadband,
    wireless Internet, and next-generation communications services, announced
    it has acquired privately held Quickborn, Germany-based, SOLUTION42,
    an innovator of wireless voice mediation, provisioning and rating
    technologies. The SOLUTION42
    acquisition is expected to extend Portal’s customer management and billing
    platform, to include a convergent solution for the 3G and 2.5G wireless
    data and voice markets. Portal Software will exchange 7.5 million shares
    for all outstanding shares of SOLUTION42, in an exchange valued at
    approximately $300 million.

    global source of technology and commerce-related information, data,
    exchanges and services, announced that it has acquired AppWatch, a
    directory of thousands of the latest pre-tested Free Software and Open
    Source downloads, including Linux distributions, drivers, utilities and
    applications. AppWatch downloads will
    be integrated within the business channels of the CNET.com Web sites, providing CNET Networks’
    audience of millions of IT professionals a robust, current source of
    powerful business applications.

    BELLEVUE, WA, Nov. 3–Cool Entertainment
    announced that the Company has entered into a binding letter of intent to
    acquire, by way of share exchange and reorganization, all of the issued and
    outstanding securities of E-Trend Networks, a private company based
    in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Cool Entertainment is an
    entertainment retail website, offering a wide range of products including
    CDs, DVDs, videos, and video games, while E-Trend Networks is a content
    destination for ‘everything entertainment’, including movies, music, games
    and more. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
