Internet incubator CMG Information Services Inc. Monday acquired Internet Profiles Corp., or I/PRO, which
specializes in Web traffic verification, analysis and research.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
I/PRO will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of the CMGI Internet Group and
will be merged with Engage Technologies Inc., a provider of online
marketing solutions. CMGI said the two companies will expand Engage’s
position as a leading supplier of data, technology and services for
Internet marketers.
The acquisition of I/PRO will enhance Engage’s services, adding analysis
and research capabilities, CMGI said. Bradley Rode, I/PRO’s president and
chief executive officer, will keep his position. He will report to Paul
Schaut, Engage’s president and chief executive.
CMGI said the combination of Engage and I/PRO will give Web sites access to
information they can use to target ad delivery or content
“The combined forces of these two companies will create an important
value-added member of the CMGI Internet Group, with endless potential for
opportunity both within and outside the larger CMGI portfolio of
companies,” said David Wetherell, CMGI’s chairman and chief executive officer.
Rode said the merger will allow I/PRO to integrate audience information
with site traffic statistics which will benefit media buyers and sellers,
e-commerce vendors and corporate marketers.
Schaut said the deal will allow customers to better understand and analyze
audience activity.
“The powerful combination translates into giving Engage customers a
stronger understanding of prospects and customers and the ability to use
this knowledge to better target relevant content, thus increasing marketing
effectiveness of the Internet,” he said.
