Former INS Official Joins SI International

Mike Becraft, former acting deputy commissioner of the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) has joined SI International to head its homeland security programs.

Becraft brings more than 35 years of federal civilian government and military experience and expertise to his new job. He most recently served as deputy commissioner of the INS, where he was responsible for managing the restructuring and transition of the INS from the Department of Justice into the new Department of Homeland Security.

He also helped guide the establishment of the Entry/Exit System (now US VISIT) and the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), and the development of the agency’s Enterprise Architecture Plan.

Throughout his tenure at the INS, Becraft worked closely with senior U.S. government officials and officials from numerous countries on critical immigration and security issues. From 1995 to 2001, he served as chief of staff at the INS.

Becraft’s appointment as SVP of Homeland Security at SI International reflects the Reston, Va.-based company’s focus on providing IT solutions to the various federal government agencies that now make up the Department of Homeland Security.

Becraft will report directly to Brad Antle, SI International’s president and CEO.

“Mike understands firsthand the mission-critical homeland security needs and where information technology can be effectively applied. He will play a key role in strengthening the company’s ability to support the federal agencies,” said Antle.
