How badly has the troubled economy affected IT spending plans? Research firm IDC regularly surveys CIOs and line-of-business executives to get a better read on their spending plans.
CIO Update details the latest results from IDC’s FutureScan report, which provides a measure of future growth plans. IDC’s FutureScan forecasts began in 2004, giving the research firm several years of earlier reports to analyze how the latest buying trends compare. One unusual result from the October survey is that both CIOs and line-of-business executives agreed on the amount IT spending is likely to increase over the next year.
A report from a leading research firm points to at least a small improvement in IT spending over the next year, even as the economy flirts with a double-dip recession.
“The IDC FutureScan indicators for October were mixed with improved buyer intent and a solid showing on Wall Street tempered by lower economic expectations for the next 12 to 18 months,” according to a report released by IDC, Friday.
