Media Metrix Starts Counting in Japan

Wednesday officially opened the doors of Media Metrix
Japan, Inc.


The company will launch its services with the Kanji Meter, a specific
measurement tool for the Japanese market which Media Metrix said has been
tested extensively prior to the launch date.


Media Metrix (MMXI)
is aiming for the world’s second largest market with its entry to Japan,
following the export of its services to Australia, Canada, France, Germany,
Sweden the U.K. It counts this debut as the sixth launch in four months.


With the Japan launch, the company said it will cover more than 75 percent
of the world’s online population.


Hidemaru Sato, former chairman of AOL Japan, has been appointed president
and chief executive officer.


Media Metrix, Inc. claims more than 600 clients and says that its market
share for the Internet audience rating research has hit 90 percent. The
company recently purchased online ad measurer AdRelevance to support that
section of its services.
