[Richmond, CANADA]- Meridex Network Corp. has signed with The Vancouver Board of Trade to develop The Board’s e-commerce capability and enable its members to conduct business on the Web. This new e-commerce capability is to be rolled out in July, 2000.
With the technology and expertise to develop and support The Board’s Web-based e-commerce capability supplied by Meridex, the solution will include business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) components.
The Meridex technology will enable Board of Trade member companies to buy sell or bid products and services through The Board’s site. The Board of Trade will also offer an online events reservation system and its own line of products and services.
Seventy percent of Vancouver Board of Trade members represent small and medium sized businesses, which is Meridex Network Corporation’s primary target market.
Daniel Behune, president & chief executive officer of Meridex Network Corp. said that this is the first step in establishing a virtual global trading community. According to Behune, this is possible because Meridex’s technology removes barriers to entry for small and medium sized players who want to conduct business over the Internet. “This partnership reflects our strategy to grow rapidly in the B2C and B2B e-commerce marketplace through alliances and joint ventures,” continued Mr. Behune.
Meridex is pioneering the concept of “portal procurement”, by deploying the supply chain management process on an automated web-based Application Service Provider (ASP)model. With the Meridex solution, companies make no technology investments and require no long and expensive software downloads and installations.
Meridex is an ASP for e-business solutions that dynamically links buying and supplying organizations within a real-time electronic marketplace on open intranet architecture.
