[Montreal, CANADA] – Transcontinental Publications Inc.,
the largest publisher of consumer magazines, and one of the largest publisher
of specialized publications in Canada and the Globe Interactive division of The Globe&Mail, will create a French-language Internet financial portal.
The portal will center on the www.lesaffaires.com site, while integrating tools on the “globeinvestor.com” and “globefund.com” sites. These tools, will be available in French in February 2001.
The new www.lesaffaires.com portal will offer continually updated information on over 3,400 Canadian mutual funds and 23,000 North American stocks as well as breaking business and other corporate news.
It will have its own team of reporters and experts in economics and finance and will benefit from Transcontinental’s economic and financial publications.
The New Media group of Transcontinental Publications will operate the new www.lesaffaires.com portal. The current site, which showcases “Journal Les Affaires”, will be transformed over the coming weeks.
With a total of 53 English and French titles and a circulation of some 100 million copies annually, Transcontinental Publications is the second largest publisher of magazines and periodicals in Canada. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of G.T.C. Transcontinental Group Ltd., a Canadian corporation.
