Axent Technologies announced RaptorMobile 5.0 for Windows 98, the latest version of its Virtual Private Network (VPN) client, designed to extend a network to remote users.

RaptorMobile creates a secure link between a remote user’s personal computer and the Raptor Firewall, the vendor said.

“More and more customers are implementing VPN technology between their personal computers to provide a secure tunnel to transmit data over the Internet,” said Microsoft’s Rob Bennett, group product manager, Windows Platform. “Microsoft is pleased that Axent Technologies is bringing RaptorMobile to its Windows 98 customers.”

Certified by the International Computer Security Association (ICSA), RaptorMobile is now integrated with the vendor’s Defender soft and hard token-based authentication, which the company said “adds an extra layer of seamless security.” For customers in North America, it also offers integrated support for Entrust
Technologies’ digital certificate solutions based on Public Key Infrastructure.

RaptorMobile 5.0 costs $99.00 per client, with discounts for volume. The firm stated that it is
available immediately.
