Microforum announced that Channelware, a business unit of Nortel
(Northern Telecom) has chosen Microforum’s Internet Frontier (IFront)
subsidiary to provide programming and hosting services for the Channelware
Contract Desk as a Channelware Service Partner.

The Channelware Electronic Software Activation (ESA) system is being rapidly
adopted by major software publishers as an alternative method of
distribution.

With usage-based access to software titles, publishers and
resellers can build individual, interactive relationships with customers
while protecting product assets from piracy. Customers get an easy way to obtain, sample, rent and buy software.

“Channelware’s physical product distribution combined with its Internet
communications gives publishers a way to connect on a use-by-use basis to a
mass market,” said Jeff Dodge, General Manager of Channelware.

“Channelware’s expertise in implementing electronic commerce solutions is ideal for helping to expand this new Electronic Software Activation virtual sales channel. Our collaboration provides broader product and purchasing choices for software consumers.”

Microforum announced it will enable several gaming and entertainment titles for Channelware activation. Initial titles will include Microforum’s popular New Beat Trancemission and recently introduced Dinomight Baseball.

Founded in 1985, Microforum is a content provider of innovative multimedia products and Internet services. Nortel Channelware is a global leader in the new market for Electronic Software Activation.
