SPS Commerce Acquires RNetEC

B2B e-commerce solutions provider SPS Commerce has acquired RNetEC, a provider of Web-based Universal
Product Code (UPC) solutions for retailers and vendors.

Financial details were not disclosed.

The UPC catalog service will be integrated with SPS Commerce’s Web-based
services
to provide a total e-supply chain solution for retailers and their trading
partners, the company said.

RNetEC has “the first reasonably priced UPC catalog solution for retail
vendors in the industry,” said Steve Waldron, president and CEO of SPS
Commerce. “It completes our offering by allowing these organizations to
access, track and maintain their UPC codes through a Web browser as part of
our Trading Partner Enablement solution.”

Traditionally, UPC codes have only been available through catalog services,
or by phone or fax requiring technical and data entry personnel to manually
key in UPC information. RNetEC’s Internet-based solution allows retailers to
access their vendors’ UPC catalogs 24 hours a day using a Web-browser.

The SPS Commerce Trading Partner Enablement Program works with each
individual vendor’s capabilities and resources, allowing each vendor to
retain their current business processes, while still enabling them to trade
electronically via any of the Trading Partner Enablement program’s options,
including WEB EC, application conversion and manual conversion.
