[Sydney, AUSTRALIA] Ticketek, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Internet business ecorp, has formed a joint venture with a Hong Kong-based consortium to launch a Ticketek operation in Hong Kong.

Ticketek Hong Kong will launch an integrated multi-channel distribution network to include box office, retail network, call center and online distribution channels, supported by its technology and intellectual property, including its ticketing software provided by Softix.

A number of venues have entered into a long-term ticketing services agreement with Ticketek Hong Kong, including the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, the Society of the Academy for Performing Arts, and the Hong Kong Arts Center.

“Ticketek Hong Kong has secured long term access to three of Hong Kong’s most high profile and prestigious convention, exhibition and performing arts facilities, as well as immediate inventory for its start-up operations in Hong Kong,” said ecorp’s executive chairman, Daniel Petre.

“The joint venture provides a solid foundation for growth and success in Hong Kong, combining the Hong Kong Alliance partners’ start-up ticketing inventory, their local industry knowledge and contacts, together with Ticketek’s ticketing expertise and technology,” Petre said.

Ticketek is a subsidiary of ecorp, whose business interests include major portal ninemsn, online auction site eBay, financial services venture ShareTrade, online recruitment site monster.com and the Wizard financial Service group.
