Tivoli Systems Wednesday released a
network management tool for enterprises and service providers.

Tivoli NetView 6.0 captures data designed to help businesses solve network problems. The
new version hosts a Web client, router fault isolation and location
sensitive topology, which all help simplify network management.

The Web client lets network administrators access Tivoli NetView data from
anywhere on the network, or from the Net when away from the office.
Information on node status, object collections and events are available from
the new Web client, as well as real-time diagnostics launched from the
Tivoli NetView server.

The tool’s router fault isolation allows engineers to identify defective
hardware and avoid being overwhelmed by error messages. When a problem
occurs in a managed network, router fault isolation zeroes in on the faulty
router, displaying information about the problem and affected devices,
allowing the operator to isolate and restore the failing router.

NetView also features SmartSets, which enable network administrators to
group resources by common characteristics, such as resource type, location
or other common characteristics.

“These new capabilities provide our customers with the ability to manage
according to business requirements that bring real value to their
organisations,” said Steve Burke, general manager, Tivoli Systems Australia
and New Zealand.

Tivoli NetView 6.0 is available now; pricing is based on network size and
complexity.
