    NEW YORK, Aug. 23–Globix Corporation , a
    provider of advanced Internet Data Center services, high-speed access, and
    streaming media solutions for business, has agreed to acquire privately
    held Comstar.net, a provider of managed e-business solutions, to
    meet the growing demand for network security and managed application
    services. Globix will pay approximately
    $211,000 in cash and will issue approximately 241,000 shares of its common
    stock in exchange for all of the issued and outstanding shares of Comstar.net. The acquisition is expected
    to be completed this month.

    SAN DIEGO, Aug. 23–Venture Catalyst , a
    business services provider and incubator for emerging companies, announced
    the acquisition of DayPlan.com, a Web-based scheduling platform that
    allows corporate and individual users to schedule appointments, track
    important dates and events, and input reminders and to-dos. Venture Catalyst intends to continue growing
    DayPlan’s individual user base, and to
    implement and host the DayPlan technology for clients worldwide as an
    application service provider (ASP).
