NEW YORK, Sept. 15–Register.com , an
Internet domain name registrar, and Afternic.com, a provider of
domain name resale services, announced that register.com has signed a definitive
agreement to acquire Afternic.com, a
provider of domain resale services including, auctions and appraisals to
individuals and businesses of all sizes. Register.com will issue 4.38
million shares of common stock and pay $10 million in cash.

ANDOVER, Mass., Sept. 15–CMGI , a global
Internet operating and development company, announced that its
majority-owned operating company CMGion, which is developing a
network-based services platform, will acquire fellow majority-owned
operating company Tribal Voice, a provider of co-branded instant
messaging, PowWow, and interactive communications solutions. CMGion plans to integrate Tribal Voice’s instant messaging
technology as a component of its platform aimed at improving the
functionality and performance of Internet applications and content
delivery. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
