Australian telecommunications group Cable and Wireless Optus has cemented its
deal with Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin
Group
to establish a joint venture (JV) in Australia.

The announcement brings Virgin Mobile Australia closer to launching,
after the two companies signed a heads of agreement deal in February.

Former CWO general manager for strategy and business development, Andrew
Grant, has been appointed to the JV as managing director, and heads a team
of executives to be announced later this week.
