XTRA On-Line released its Internet-based PowerTrip travel reservation software, with the news that a major travel company–McCord Travel Management–will market the product to its corporate customer base.

PowerTrip is designed to put the travel planning process right onto the corporate desktop. Via a single interface, it provides the corporate user with the same information that can be accessed via a travel agency’s computerized reservation system (CRS).

“We’ve extended the services of the CRS to the corporate user, giving them the power
to improve internal efficiencies that will enable their company to take advantage of
preferred travel vendor discounts, as well as other cost-saving methods,” said Bill Diffenderffer, CEO of XTRA On-Line.

PowerTrip offers other facilities besides travel information and planning. It is,
says the vendor, the first product on the market that automatically collects and
integrates all the information about preferred hotels, cars and airlines and the
company’s travel policies into a suitable form for budgetary review.

“A product like PowerTrip enables the travel management company to work hand-in-hand with the corporation wanting to manage more cost-effectively its T&E (travel & entertainment) investments,” added Diffenderffer. “And it’s all done easily, right at the desktop.”
