The Web Marketing Association said the New York office of AGENCY.COM won the Best of Show award at the
1998 WebAward corporate site competition
for its outstanding work on the British Airways London
Destination Web site.
“The WebAwards winners combined design, innovation and
technology to meet specific marketing objectives,” said William Rice, president of the Web Marketing Association, sponsor of the
competition. “The WebAwards were created
to highlight the individuals and companies leading the way in the creation of
corporate Web sites that provide a well rounded experience for Internet
users.”
More than 500 sites from around the world were adjudicated during this year’s
competition. Entries were judged on design, innovation, content,
interactivity, navigation, ease of use and use of technology.

The British Airways London Destination Web site was designed to help British
Airway’s customers answer the question “why travel to London?”. Runner up for
the Best of Show WebAward was Aristotle Internet for its exceptional work on
the Arkansas Parks and Tourism site.
AGENCY.COM won a total of ten 1998 WebAwards. Interactive firm iXL also earned 10 awards. Judges included
members of the media, advertising executives, site designers, corporate
marketing executives, content providers and Web masters. The Competition’s Web
site is sponsored by Broadvision, iSyndicate, WebPromote, NetCreations,
LinkExchange and PRNewswire.
