Beyond Interactive has developed an “intromercial” ad unit for its client Sun Microsystems. The ad, which ran on CNET Networks’ News.com for a period of 24 hours, was the first homepage takeover to appear on that site. The intromercial is a five second rich media ad unit that plays upon site entry before the front door loads. Users can elect to bypass the ad.
To develop the unit in conjunction with CNET Networks, Beyond Interactive used a combination of Macromedia Flash and the commercial break ad format from the Eyeblaster rich media platform.
Bizjournals, the new media division of American City Business Journals, has agreed to distribute Amazing Media’s AdVariant product, which allows local and regional advertisers to manage online ad campaigns.
“The AdVariant application is so easy to use, we think it will encourage our local business users to step up their advertising on our sites,” says Tim Bradbury, executive VP of bizjournals.
