Privately held e-mail marketing firm Naviant has appointed Richard Schell to be its chief financial officer, a position in which he’ll handle the financial aspects of Naviant and its divisions, which include eDirect, Data One Marketing and Sweepsclub.com. Most recently, Schell was chief financial officer of NetByTel, and he previously served in the same capacity at Daleen Technologies, where he managed the firm’s IPO.

In announcing the hire, Naviant execs cited Schell’s expertise in IPOs, investor relations, private capital offerings, financial management, and mergers and acquisitions. Last November, Naviant merged with eDirect and projected the combined company would see $60 million in revenues in 2002.

Marketing information company Experian has named Deborah Zuccarini to be president of its marketing solutions business unit, formed when the company acquired Direct Marketing Technology in 1997. The appointment comes as Direct Marketing Technology’s founders, Tom Newkirk and Scot Thomas, depart their posts at Experian. Newkirk had been chairman, and is retiring, and Thomas had been chief executive officer and chairman. The company says both will be available to provide advice.

Zuccarini was formerly executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Experian’s marketing solutions business unit, where she was responsible for marketing, product development and information practices. Previously she served as chief operating officer of Nykamp Consulting Group, a CRM services consulting firm.

MarketsOnDemand, a developer of opt-in list building and customer acquisition tools, has promoted vice president of operations Dave Needham to chief executive officer. Needham replaces Peter Mason, who remains chairman of the board and primary stakeholder.

Prior to joining the company in 2000, Needham was a senior vice president at the IIT Research Institute (IITRI), where he managed IITRI’s rail simulation, life sciences, and intelligence community businesses. Before IITRI, he was the commercial group vice president for Integic, a Xerox funded company.

Burson-Marsteller, a communications consulting firm, has designed and built a new site for CEOGO, an online resource that tracks the roles and reputations of chief executive officers. The new portal has an expanded news feed, as well as a larger body of research and information pertaining to corporate chief execs. Among the site’s new offerings are breaking news on CEO hires, conference information, and a poll. Additionally, Burston-Marsteller redesigned the company’s logo.

Digital ad distributor FastChannel Network has signed a deal to be the exclusive distribution application for Williams Communications’ Vyvx audio ad distribution service (ADS). Vyvx ADS customers will deliver ads using FastChannel’s Web-based tools, which include a large ad delivery network and tools for ad delivery, creative search, and project management. Terms were not disclosed.
