Interactive agency 360i has promoted Erik Harbison from senior media consultant to media director. Harbison has been with 360i since September 2000, providing online media planning, buying and campaign management services for the firm’s telecommunications, B2B and financial services clients. Prior to 360i, Harbison was director of media operations for Atlanta-based clickandmove.com, a relocation portal.

In his new role, Harbison will develop and oversee client campaign strategies and direct the media department’s activities. David Williams, 360i’s founder and former media director, will assume the role of chief media strategist and will focus exclusively on developing partnership deals.

“The combination of his media skills and his track record of producing exceptional campaign results make Erik the ideal candidate to run 360i’s Media department,” said Williams.

Messagizer, U.K. subsidiary of the Buongiorno Group, will provide services to student-focused Web site Smart Students, now the largest student site in the UK. As part of the deal, Messagizer will provide content, distribution and hosting for Smart Students’ e-mail newsletters. It will then track recipients’ behavior and use that information to tailor communications to the approximately 250,000 users. Also, Messagizer will manage Smart Students’ e-mail and SMS ad sales function.

Shayne Mihalka, former VP of network development and business operations for ValueClick , has joined Fastclick as vice president of business development. Mihalka will focus on business development opportunities surrounding Fastclick’s upcoming ad server product, publisher relationships, and direct marketing advertisers.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Shayne to the Fastclick team,” said Jeff Hirsch, chief sales and marketing officer. “His phenomenal understanding of the industry, innovative concepts, and years of experience will help Fastclick continue on its steady growth curve.”

In addition to Mihalka, Fastclick has recruited Misty Reicherter as director of sales. Reicherter’s background in sales and eCRM includes stints at WebSideStory and ValueClick.

Vivendi Universal Net USA’s (VUNet USA) music and media group has appointed Allison Mellon as vice president of western sales. Mellon will be responsible for managing the group’s West Coast ad sales teams and maximizing revenue from VUNet USA’s network of music and media Web sites — MP3.com, RollingStone.com, GetMusic.com, MP4.com and EMusic.com. Mellon joins the company from ValueClick, where she was vice president of western region sales.

“Allison’s Internet and traditional sales experience, as well as her strong leadership qualities, are a wonderful addition to our senior team,” said Terry Ash, the group’s executive vice president of national sales.

Temerlin McClain’s interactive marketing resource group has entered a pro bono client partnership with Austin, Texas-based Planet Cancer, an online support community for young adults with cancer. The relationship began when Temerlin McClain employees began to cast around for a pro bono client they felt was especially suited for online marketing. After researching a number of prospective clients across the U.S., the group selected Planet Cancer, whose mission is to support young adults (ages 18-35) living with cancer.

“Our goal was to find a client that could truly benefit from online marketing as well as support a cause that inspired the team,” said James Hering, senior vice president and director of the interactive marketing resource group at Temerlin McClain.
