Ad-backed e-mail company Juno Online Services LP and Network Associates, formerly McAfee Associates,
signed a strategic marketing agreement whereby Juno’s members will receive
instant access to and promotional discounts on Network Associates’ software.
The offers will come through a custom Network Associates micro-site accessible
only through the Juno service.
Network Associates will in turn bundle a customized version of New York City-
based Juno’s e-mail software with its McAfee-branded retail products and will
allow its users to download the Juno software from its Web site. Financial
details were not disclosed.
During the term of the agreement, Network Associates will be the exclusive
marketer of stand-alone anti-virus software over Juno. Juno users will have
access to Network
Associates consumer products such as: VirusScan, anti-virus protection for the
desktop; Nuts & Bolts, utility software to optimize systems, prevent crashes
and recover from disasters; PGP Personal Privacy, encryption; and Safe &
Sound, a PC utility that integrates self-healing diagnostic and repair
facilities with dynamic backup and file-repair technology.
“This agreement is truly a win for customers of both companies,” said Chris
Meaux, director of electronic commerce for Santa Clara, CA-based Network
Associates. “We are looking forward to offering Juno’s award-winning Internet
e-mail service to our 25 million customers.”
