MACELABS, an
independent product testing lab, said it is developing a product that allows
users to benchmark their e-mail accounts and is offering associated
sponsorship opportunities.

The product is a software inspection tool that lets users measure their e-mail
delivery times. If they wish, they can then send the data to MACELABS for
inclusion in a national study.

The client application will be free, and MACELABS said it hopes to distribute
over 500,000 copies. Sponsors will get their logo on the product, in the form
of a clickable button linked to their Web site. The company said that only
five sponsor buttons are available for five industry sectors and that it
cannot accept sponsorship from companies involved in providing e-mail products
or services.

MACELABS offers a variety of product testing and review services that allow
vendors to find out in detail how their products stack up against the
competition and maximize marketability.
