San Francisco-based XOOM.com Inc. an Internet direct marketing company, signed
strategic sponsorship agreements with eBay, GoTo.com and BuyDirect.com.
As part of its agreement with XOOM.com, eBay, the person-to-person online
auction trading community, receives premium placement throughout XOOM.com’s
Web properties and has the ability to promote targeted auctions to XOOM.com’s
members.
Search engine GoTo.com becomes the exclusive Web search engine on the XOOM.com
site, the XOOM.com network and the XOOM.com chat network. And Buy Direct.com,
an Internet software retailer, has a placement on XOOM.com’s e-commerce
navigation bar and becomes the official co-branded partner of XOOM.com’s
software store.
In addition to these premium placements, all three sponsors will receive
placements within XOOM.com’s direct e-mail newsletter to its members and will
receive a banner rotation throughout XOOM.com’s Web properties. Financial
arrangements were not disclosed.
XOOM.com offers consumers free services over the Web, including homepage
building, chat rooms, message boards, HTML e-mail, online greeting cards and
content such as full-length streaming movies and Web clips. XOOM.com sells its
proprietary products as well as third party products to its registered
members.
