It should come as no surprise that Akamai, the world’s largest Content Delivery Network uses Linux as a core underpinning for its’ 120,000 server network.

What might not be as well known is that Akamai builds its own flavor of Linux to support its network. Akamai’s Linux is based on Debian and Chief Security Officer, Andy Ellis explained to me that, it gives his company more control for security.
