Aruba this week announced its 7200 Series Mobility Controllers, which feature the company’s new AppRF technology. The goal of AppRF is to deliver application visibility that enables optimized application delivery and control over wireless networks.

From a hardware perspective, scale is another key attribute of the 7200 series. The new Aruba controllers scale up to 40 Gbps of firewall and encryption capacity, supporting as many as 32,000 mobile devices.

Ozer Dondurmacioglu Director of Product & Solutions Marketing at Aruba, explained to EnterpriseNetworkingPlanet that the new application visibility and control is an Aruba developed feature. He noted that in the past, Aruba had visibility in the unified communications space with Microsoft Lync and Apple Facetime. Aruba is now expanding on that with URL traffic identification. With the URL traffic identification, an administrator can prefer traffic from one site over another.
