The Dangers of Connected Lightbulbs Brought to Light by Rapid7

New research disclosed on July 26 by security vendor Rapid7 however reveals that it discovered numerous flaws in the OSRAM Lightify product lineup, that could have exposed users to risk. Most of the flaws have now been fixed in a patch update from OSRAM.

In total, Rapid7 found nine different issues impacting the Home and Pro version of the Osram Lightify products. Among the issues is CVE-2016-5051, which is is a network WiFi password vulnerability. Rapid7 found that mobile application for Lightify Home saved the user’s WiFi password as clear text.
