In conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month,
America Online and iQVC united to offer AOL members an exclusive
version of “FFANY Shoes On Sale,” QVC’s fourth annual televised fund-raiser to
benefit breast cancer research.
Yesterday, AOL members got an exclusive
sneak preview of
“FFANY Shoes On Sale” and a 24-hour advance opportunity to buy select designer
shoes by Kenneth Cole, CK Shoes, Nine West, Cole-Haan, Bass and Bostonian at
AOL keyword: Shoes On Sale. All net proceeds go to help breast cancer
research and education.
A special AOL/iQVC Breast Cancer Awareness area will be available online
throughout the month of October. It will feature live chats with doctors
involved in breast cancer research. AOL’s Health Channel (keyword: Health)
also will provide information on prevention and detection, treatments, and
support groups.
Electra (AOL keyword: Electra), a
destination area for women online, will offer a “Living Memorial” where AOL
members and Internet users can post
their thoughts, dedications and memorials for women in their lives who have
died or suffered from breast cancer. Internet users will have access to iQVC’s
special editorial content at www.iqvc.com.
The QVC “FFANY Shoes On Sale” gala will take place today, Oct. 2, from 7 to 10
p.m. at The Pierre Hotel in New York City. iQVC will be on hand to provide
online up-to-the minute backstage views of the fund-raiser featuring the cast
of Broadway-bound “Footloose,” Tap Dogs, Star Jones, Miss USA ’98 Shawnae
Jebbia, “NYPD Blue’s” Andrea Thompson, super-model Frederique and other
celebrities.
With over 250,000 pairs of shoes sold since its inception in October 1994,
“Shoes On Sale” is expected to donate more than $5 million in cumulative net
proceeds this year.
