Minneapolis-based ESD firm Digital River formed an international
partnership with Global DirectMail, a direct marketer of brand name and
private label computer, office and industrial products.
Digital River will offer more than 100,000 digital products for electronic
delivery through Global’s U.S.-based online store,
as well as its online stores in the United Kingdom at www.globaldirect.co.uk and www.misco.co.uk.
In both the U.K. and U.S. partnerships, Global will enhance its current
online offerings and its capability to sell downloadable products to its
customers. Additionally, Digital River will provide marketing and
merchandising services to Global that highlight product specials. Financial
arrangements were not disclosed.
“Digital River provides us with the ability to deliver the most extensive
selection of digital products including software directly to consumers’
desktops,” said Bob Dooley, Global DirectMail’s senior vice president for
sales and marketing. “One of the keys to our business strategy is the ability
to provide our customers with a broad selection of products from Digital
River’s inventory. Additionally, by partnering with Digital River, we are
able to focus on promoting our online store.”
“By teaming up with Global in the U.K., we are reaching a larger European
audience and further demonstrating the global benefits of electronic software
delivery,” said Ian Yarlott, general manager of Digital River’s European
office.
Global DirectMail Corp., which is changing its name to Systemax Inc., has
developed an integrated system of branded e-commerce Web sites, direct mail
catalogs, and relationship marketing to sell private label and name brand PC
hardware, related supplies and industrial products to businesses in North
America and Europe.
