Electronic publishing solutions provider InfiNet today announced E-Commerce Suite, a new electronic commerce solution targeted at newspapers publishing online.
InfiNet said E-Commerce Suite’s three components–ShopSite, WEBForms and the InfiNet secure server network–offer newspapers tools to develop e-commerce product catalogs, process online transactions, and create and implement product databases.
The Suite enables virtual storefronts to capture secure information sent via the Internet. Newspapers, in turn, can offer a secure online venue for merchants to display and retail their products, InfiNet said. The ShopSite tool contains catalog pages, shopping baskets, shipping tables, tax information and order entry forms.
InfiNet said the WEBForm feature enables newspapers and merchants to target
specific customer data on forms, such as credit card and demographic
information. In addition, credit card transactions securely pass through InfiNet’s secure servers and PGP encryption technology.
“The electronic commerce market is exploding and newspapers will play a
large role,” said InfiNet’s President and CEO Robert Gilbert. “By offering
this new suite of products, InfiNet is making it possible for newspapers to
reach new audiences, offer more services to their advertisers and open new
revenue streams.”
InfiNet is a joint venture of Gannett Co. Inc., Knight
Ridder and Landmark Communications. The company offers ISP services and
online newspaper solutions including ad-management tools such as its
Classifieds Suite product.
