Movielink.com Launches Movie Shopping Section

MovieFone Inc. said that its Movielink.com site, an Internet movie
guide,
launched a new shopping area offering movie merchandise, including movie
soundtracks, books, and memorabilia.

Movielink.com said that while it has sold movie tickets online since its inception in 1995, the new section dramatically expands its e-commerce capability through relationships with online retailers Amazon.com, CDnow and Mole-Richardson Co.’s Moletown Studio Store. Financial arrangements were not disclosed.

One-click access is featured at the site, allowing, for example, a moviegoer
who is looking for showtimes and other information for Titanic to link
directly to
merchandise pages provided by CDnow to purchase the film’s soundtrack,
Moletown to purchase the movie’s official poster, and Amazon.com to purchase
books about the making of the movie.

The Movie Soundtracks area lists the top 10 selling soundtracks of the week as
well as the top 10 selling soundtracks of all time and directs users to a
customized page featuring
the soundtrack of their choice provided by CDnow.

The Movie Merchandise area offers t-shirts, hats, posters and more, from
Moletown’s studio store. Finally, the Movie Books area brings users to
Amazon.com’s selection of books pertaining to movies.

“The new shopping area on Movielink.com is a natural fit for our site,” said
Matt Blumberg, MovieFone’s vice president of Marketing and Product Management.
“We now host as many as 800,000 moviegoers each week, and those moviegoers are
active consumers.”
