Netscape Communications Corp. said the next generation of its Internet selling solutions–Netscape SellerXpert 2.0 for selling to businesses and Netscape MerchantXpert 2.0 for selling to
consumers–are available in limited beta.

The products build on the Netscape CommerceXpert family of packaged Internet
commerce applications and help enterprises build sales by strengthening
existing sales channels and customer relationships, reaching new markets and
delivering improved customer service, the company said.

SellerXpert is targeted at Global 2000 companies that need to do business with
a broad range of small, medium and large-size corporate customers and channel
partners in a way that honors existing trading agreements, supports a high
volume of business transactions and leverages existing Electronic Data
Interchange (EDI) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) business systems.

MerchantXpert 2.0 is designed for companies that want to sell directly to
consumers via high volume retail sites and for ESPs that want to host an
online “mall” for smaller retailers. New features include support for targeted
advertising, community building and advanced merchandising capabilities.

SellerXpert 2.0 and MerchantXpert 2.0 are currently available in beta versions and are expected to ship commercially by the end of calendar year 1998 for Sun Solaris.

SellerXpert 2.0 starts at $195,000 for a two-processor computer system. Pricing for Netscape MerchantXpert 2.0 starts at $150,000 for a two processor computer system.
