E-commerce art site PaintingsDirect.com signed an
e-commerce agreement with America Online Inc. to become a gold tenant in the
Arts and Collectibles department of the Shop@AOL, AOL.com, CompuServe and Netscape online
shopping destinations.
The agreement will enable members and users of AOL’s family of brands to
browse and purchase original paintings from PaintingsDirect.com’s collection
of artwork.
Financial arrangements were not disclosed.
PaintingsDirect.com offers original works of contemporary art, a collection
of frames and mats and a “View Painting to Scale” option that enables
customers to instantly visualize the size of the painting in relation to the
height of the average person.
Online since 1998, PaintingsDirect.com was founded by French entrepreneur
Christine Bourron to address the demand for original art. Artists and
paintings are added to the site every week, and the database currently
contains thousands of original, unique paintings.
Painting prices range from
$40 to $15,000 and the company offers customers a 10-day full refund return
policy.
