Application Service Provider POPcast Communications Corp. revealed Friday that Intel Internet Media Services will be its exclusive provider for all streaming media edge services.
POPcast, which offers a complete solution for self-service Webcasting, will use Intel Internet Media Services
to deliver all large-scale audio and video streaming content from POPcast.com
and POPcast’s customers’ sites.
William Mutual, POPcast’s president, said Intel Internet Media Services’ “copy exactly” philosophy will ensure a reliable, scalable and global soution, enabling POPcast to deliver high-quality video and audio content over the Web.
“We are building a highly reliable, global and scalable network designed
expressly to stream audio and video over the Internet,” said Mike Witteman,
director of service technology, Intel Internet Media Services.
In other news, Intel Internet Media Services also signed agreements with ASPs DigMedia Inc and MediaOnDemand. DigMedia Inc. will use Intel as a streaming media provider as part of its global digital distribution platform and Web appliance strategy. MediaOnDemand.com will start working with Intel to develop Webcast projects.
